Howdy!
I've tried to be one thing and I've tried to be another when the simple fact is I am attracted to both genders. I'm bisexual. I have found I get a far greater level of acceptance within the gay community as an example by saying what gays and lesbians want to hear which is that I only go in the one direction. The amount of times I've tried telling the truth and seen how I've been viewed then said what they've wanted to hear and I've been welcomed back into the fold like a long lost friend. Well, no more. I'm bisexual. If people don't like it then they can lump it I'm afraid.
The term bisexual elicits so many negative and frankly unhelpful reactions in both the gay community and society in general. I'm not being greedy because if that were the case, I'd want to go with every man and every woman and I don't. I'm certainly not courting heterosexual privilege because my outward appearance and demeanour lends itself more to the gay side of things anyway. I'm not promiscuous as I believe firmly in monogamy - whoever wins my heart has ALL of me and it's not a stepping stone towards gayness because I came out as gay to begin with.
Some may view my being bisexual as a curse but I see it as a blessing because it means I'm not limited in who I am attracted to and can fall in love with. That's a word you don't hear too often when discussing the lives of those on the LGBT spectrum - love. Sex is great and I'm not going to deny it but when it's an expression of love for another, there's nothing quite like it in my opinion.

Through the interviews featured on this website maybe we can make a difference to how people on the LGBTQI spectrum are viewed and hopefully start breaking down misconceptions, prejudices and fears. Seeing gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, intergendered individuals and those transitioning from male-to-female/female-to-male becoming comfortable within who they are gladdens my heart immensely. There are some truly wonderful role models out there in the LGBTQI community.
